Wow, what originality! <g> I saw the original piece on the internet when Final Fantasy VII was not even out yet, and just sketched it in about 10 minutes. I started using more detail on the sketch, and eventually made it in to a finished piece. I used a stump to create the smearing shading effect. The scan came out terrible though, but I thought I'd submit it just because I love Squaresoft, their art, artists, and great games.
