Mere words cannot describe how much I am looking forward to this game. It's been my only thought
about the PS2 library since I first heard of it a year or so ago, and I've been following the GIA coverage
extensively since. So when you guys mention Edward Gorey in the contest page, this line
immediately sprung into my head. (I wish I had a digital camera... or even a regular camera. :/ I'd
love to submit an entry to that contest, but I won't be able to procure one till after the contest is over.
Go fig.)
Anyways. I own two Amphigorey collections, one of which contains, of course, "The Gashlycrumb
Tinies." So that's what this is after, mates. I'm rather satisfied with the drawing, except for three
things: one, I was too cowardly to ink it, as I only had a .05, and I'd like to have done it in a .01. Two,
the line only has nine syllables, as opposed to the constant ten found throughout "The Gashlycrumb
Tinies." I tried to rewrite it, but they always came out sounding awkward. Three, Ari's proportions are
incorrect; the Tinies are 3 heads high, he's a little over 2 and a half heads high. Dammit. Oh, and
Stan seems to have lost weight, but I didn't want him to dominate the image, and I didn't want it to be
from too far away. :P Also, I'm surprised Gorey didn't go nuts. I only did this half-heartedly (and with
far less skill), and it was tedious enough. o_O Or maybe he did go nuts. It's hard to tell, especially if
you read "The Epiplectic Bicycle."
Oh, and it was great fun drawing Stan, trying to get the shadow in more of a... I dunno, interesting
light. Or rather, anti-light. Right.
Thanks for looking!
