Artist's Commentary
They don't make heroes like they used to. Despite having about 256 pixels, and 16 colors to thier name, Rydia, and the rest of the Final fantasy 2 (4j) crowd had more depth to them than any of the FF8 teen-drama rejects. (I'll truncate my rant here, but judgement on FFX is pending..) When Rydia was lost to the party, she grew up in the land of summoned monsters.. that's a lot of story untold. Behind Rydia I've set a scape inspired by the tiles in the land of summoned monsters, and thew in some mist, (ie: Mysidia) in for good measure. And let's face it.. for a gal that's seen at about the size of your thumb, Rydia's kinda hot. The greater details on her graphic in the game supplied me with a basic framework, into which I set the finer details, like the specifics of the jewellery, and how the shine in her hair forms dragon-like patterns. (o, how Bahamut has fallen since those days..) Although I'm not generally one to do fan-art, I'm pretty happy with this one. It's let me put a solid image to the vuage idea of Rydia.
