Artist's Commentary
This is actually the second of two pieces of Freya fan art I made after a friend commented on how little Freya fan art there was. Since I've always loved Dragoons and Freya just rocks as a character, I was happy to solve this problem.

The first picture I did had many problems with the design of the character, since at the time all I had to work with was the instruction manual and the game graphics, this one I did after a friend gave me the FFIX art book for Christmas (a GREAT book). So this is a lot more true to the actual character design.

I'm very happy with how the picture turned out, especially the background. I didn't think the background would turn out nearly so well, especially since it was all but thrown in as an after thought. I originally drew Freya without even considering a background, but afterwards since it's basically her in her battle pose I considered drawing a background based on the backgrounds from the random encounter battles. After doodling endless hills and trees and grass...I finally settled on the archway framed by two large statues. Statues make backgrounds easy for people that love to draw characters, and Burmecia is filled with statues anyways.

I'm also especially proud of the colouring job. It always makes me happy when I colour something in photoshop and when I show the picture off people comment on my markering or painting skills, wich many people have in this case.
