Ashton, Stargazing Artist: Mooncalf Media: Ink Sketch/PhotoShop Artist's Commentary When I played Star Ocean: The Second Story, I chose to play Rena, but I lost my heart very quickly to a different character: Ashton. In my game Ashton and Rena actually ended up together in Arlia Village, which made me happy... but I got to thinking. What if they hadn't? What if Claude and Rena had gone off to space together? I decided that Ashton had always been secretly in love with Rena but never had the guts to say so. So now that life on Expel is back to normal, Ashton goes outside every night to look up at the stars and say to himself, 'See those stars? Somewhere out there is someone I love very much...' (Everyone now: Awwww.) All that aside, I'm very pleased with the funky dimensional effect that I got on the dragons. It turned out to be very hard to draw the dragons... it took a lot of doing to make them NOT look like handpuppets. Ashton himself was pretty easy to draw. I like the way that the one dragon is looking at what Ashton's looking at, but the other is turned slightly, looking at Ashton... as if he's wondering if Ashton's okay. I know the background is kind of sparse, but I wanted to keep the main focus on the characters... well, okay, I just stink at backgrounds. Fine, you caught me. ^_-   « Previous Back to gallery Next »
