Billy Joel

Billy Joel...the classically trained Piano Man...the Entertainer...a man who has played the heartstrings of several generations...I could never find the words to explain how much his work has affected me, my life, what I've accomplsihed, and where I will go. He has had a more profound musical influence on me that any other person, living or dead, known or unknown, and to say he is a "master of music" is not praise enough. I have a Billy Joel song for every important person & moment in my life...when I play and sing his music, I feel as if I could have written it myself.

My parents were always fans of Billy Joel, and as a child I stole my father's tapes and CDs to listen to on my own, and begged to have every single album. I saw Billy Joel in concert once when I was very small, even years before I began my own piano lessons. I remember my father bringing home a piano book of Billy Joel's music my first year of study, and the level of the music was lightyears beyond me. Now, a decade later, I play through books upon books of his music and marvel at how his trials and triumphs have led me safely through my own.

On December 22 of 1998, my family of four went to see his tour at Madison Square Garden...and anyone who's anyone knows that NYC is the place to see Billy Joel. He is a NYer after all! From Christmas carol interruptions to joyful shouts of "I love you New York City", this one night makes the list of my top life experiences. I cried when he came onstage. I think I could have shouted "One more!" all night and still not have been satisfied.

In the info section you can find a little bit about Billy Joel's life, and also two cute wavefiles, that show off his quirky sense of humour. It's true, you can stand on a piano... In the pictures section are just a few of my favorites, as well as a few I scanned(when I repost) from the newspaper after he was inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame(by Ray Charles, how cute!). The last section provides the album covers and lyrics for all of his releases. I hope you've enjoyed this little section. Keep the Faith!
