Mega Man Legends Guide and Item list. 5/15/00 By VirgilKX@aol.com Instead of combining the enemy and item list, I figured I would make two seperate lists. Hence, this is the complete item list, how and where to get all of the buster and normal items. Version 1.0: Started this guide. Not fully completed, due to the lack of knowledge of the exact location of the Shiny Object, but nonetheless, fairly extensive. Table of Contents: I. Item list. II. Buster parts. A. Basic parts. B. Rare parts. III. Special weapons. IV. Special Item list. V. Sub-quests. VI. Other secrets. VII. Final notes. VIII. End Section I. Item list, in alphabetical order: Ancient Book - Check the labyrinths through the Clozer Forest ruins' Sub Gate; One of the paths will lead you back into the labyrinth near the exit/entrance of the optional ruins near the Marlwolf. Another way you can get this item, is by going through the area you get the Old Shield, and then from the Old Shield, go to the ledge to the south, and then keep going straight, and you'll reach a long rampway leading down. From there, you'll see a ledge, with a chest with the Rapid Fire Barrel in it. -- Bring this to Roll to make the Machine Gun buster part. Ring -- In the Lake Jynn ruins. Use the Jump Springs to jump up onto the ledges (or follow the path around until you reach the ledges that way), and then go through the door up top. Use the Jump Springs to jump up onto that ledge (960 zenny will be in the chest there.), and go behind the two blocks there. Inside the chest on the right upper ledge, will be the Triple Access. Buster Max: (ATK/ENG/RNG/RPD Maxed.) -- Given to you on Easy mode. Section III. Special Weapons: Active Buster: What to bring Roll: Guidance Unit. Description: This weapon shoots a homing missle that tracks the nearest enemy. All of its attributes can be increased, making it a very powerful weapon. Unforunetely, in order to increase the final energy level to the max. (and thus, making the ammo unlimited), it will cost you 990,000 zenny. This weapon is useful in the battle with the Draches, because the missle tracks them. Blade Arm: What to bring Roll: Zetsabre, Pen Light. Description: Mega Man X fans may recognize this as being a Zero weapon look-a-like. This weapon's range can be increased, so that an extra beam fires out, hitting nearby enemies in its path. I don't find it terribly useful, although I like the nostalgic purpose of it. Drill Arm: What to bring Roll: Blunted Drill. Description: You can raise the energy of this to unlimited, and this Drill can break through those walls you've always wanted to break through. As a weapon though, it's useless. Grand Grenade: What to bring Roll: Bomb Schematic. Description: Shoots out a strong grenade that creates a powerful explosion. Of course, this will eat up your energy quickly, even you did upgrade the energy capacity. Much like the Grenade Arm, except this doesn't bounce off a wall. Grenade Arm: What to bring Roll: Grenade Kit. Description: Shoots out a grenade that bounces along walls, and explodes. This can be useful if you want to rebound something around a wall to hit an enemy. Machine Buster: What to bring Roll: Blumebear Parts. Description: This is a pretty good early weapon. It fires off fast machine gun rounds that are useful for boss fights, or numerous enemies. Too bad the energy level doesn't go to the maximum when upgraded. Powered Buster: What to bring Roll: Cannon Kit. Description: Excellent range, and powerful. It is slow to fire, and it only fires in a straight line, unfortunetely. Still, it's a great sniping weapon, as long as your enemy stays still. :P Shield Arm: What to bring Roll: Mystic Orb, Marlwolf Shell. Description: This is a shield that protects you from attacks. It can be quite useful, for dodging projectile attacks, or several ambuses, since the shield can damage enemies. However, the energy level can't be upgraded to the maximum, therefore, decreasing its overall usefulness. Shining Laser: What to bring Roll: X Buster, Weapon Plans, Prism Crystal. Description: The most powerful weapon, when upgraded to the max. The energy can be upgraded to the max, too, and it won't cost you your shirt, like it will with the Active Buster. You'll destroy any mec within seconds, with this powerful weapon. It cuts right through enemies, also. It's a shame you receive this weapon so late in the game. Splash Mine: What to bring Roll: Mine Parts Kit. Description: Your first special weapon. It's good for taking out enemy tanks, such as the ones at City Hall, or the Blumebear mecs. Other than that, it is pretty useless. I don't think it is worth upgrading, especially since you can only upgrade after you save City Hall. Well, you could use it in the fights ahead at the Yass Plains, or against the Marlwolf, but that's it. Spread Buster: What to bring Roll: Antique Book, Old Launcher, Arm Supporter. Description: Instead of throwing grenades, this shoots out grenades, at 3, 5, or 7 at a time, depending on what level you have the Special upgraded at. Very powerful weapon, but the energy level is low. Useful for taking down a powerful enemy. Vacuum Arm: What to bring Roll: Broken Motor, Broken Propeller, Broken Cleaner. Description: This isn't a weapon, but rather, a tool used to collect zenny shards. Don't underestimate the usefulness of this. When every attribute is maxed, you can collect zenny shards in the blink of an eye, from a distance farther than you can shoot. Very useful after destroying an enemy which leaves behind numerous shards, and you can't get to them in time. Section IV. Special Item list: Energy Canteen: Buy this at the Junk Shop. This will refill your life. For every one canteen point, one life point will be restored. You can buy up to 50 points for the canteen. You can also refill the canteen by heading back to the Junk Shop. Note that everytime you buy a point at the Junk Shop, the canteen automatically refills. Make sure to refill before a boss fight! Helmet: After bringing the Safety Helmet to Roll, she will make the Helmet for you. Equip it, and it'll protect you from falling down, when an enemy or something knocks you down. Jet Skates: Equip these, and you'll be able to glide along the ground, by holding down the Circle button. Steer using the control pad, and the L1 and R1 buttons. Speedy way to get around, but watch out for bumping into enemies or cars! Jump Springs: With these equipped, your jumping height will be increased 2x! You'll now be able to reach all of those ledges you couldn't reach before! Armor: At the Junk Shop, there are three levels of armor you can buy. The first level decreases damage by a 1/4, then the next decreases damage by a 1/2, then 3/4. It's imperative to buy armor, if you plan on surviving longer, and using less of your canteen. Adapter Plug: Bring the Joint Plug to Roll, and she'll make an extra buster slot for you. You can then equip up to 3 buster parts - Very useful! Blue Refractor: Found in the first labyrinth. Automatically in your inventory. Yellow Refractor: Found in the Cardon ruins. Bring this to the ship in Uptown, and you can use it to get to the Lake Jynn ruins. Red Refractor: Found in the Lake Jynn ruins. Bring this to Roll, who will then repair the Flutter. Citizen's Card: You'll get this after getting the Mine Parts Kit. This will allow you to visit Downtown and City Hall. Class B License: Given to you by the Mayor after you've rescued City Hall. You can then enter the ruins south of the Flutter, and north of City Hall. Class A License: Given to you by the Mayor after you've defeated the Marlwolf. This will allow you access to any of the city, and any ruin. Walkie-talkie: Given to you by Roll, after you've rescued City Hall, and talked to her inside the Support Car. From any where in the city, and outside the Flutter, you can use this to call the Support Car to pick you up. Bonne Family Key: One of the Blumebear mecs has this. Use this key to open up the door to City Hall. Cardon Forest Sub-Gate key: Find all 3 of these to unlock the Yellow Refractor inside the ruins. Lake Jynn Sub-Gate key: Find all 3 of these to unlock the Red Refractor inside the ruins. Clozer Woods Sub-Gate key: Find all 3 of these to access the control panel inside the ruins, to open up the Main Gate. Sub-City key: Watcher, Dreamer, and Sleeper keys. Find these inside the 3 Sub Cities, after you've unlocked them at the Main Gate. Section V. Sub-quests: 1. The Curator: When you reach Uptown, talk to the woman painting the picture on the cliff. Tell her she needs red to complete the painting. Head to Apple Market, and go inside the woman's clothing store. The woman at the desk will give you the lipstick. Take this back to the woman painting, and she will use to complete her painting. Head to the museum in Uptown, and go up to the 2nd floor. The woman there is the Curator, and she will accept artifacts you find around on the island. After you've found the 8 artifacts (Old Bone, Old Heater, Old Doll, Antique Bell, Giant Horn, Shiny Object, Old Shield, and the Shiny Red Stone.) a girl will be walking around on the 2nd floor, who will give you the Prism Crystal. 2. KTOX TV Game Shows: There are 3 games you can play at Uptown. Head to the KTOX TV Station to seek them out. Talk to the girl at the desk, who will ask if you wish to participate in either the Beast Hunter or Balloon Fantasy games. To play the Beast Hunter, kick the ball/flashing dog at the dog chasing the man. Don't be fancy about it, just make sure all of your hits connect, and try to get the 2nd flashing dog to hit the running dog that flies across the screen. Earn an A rank, and you'll get the Zetsabre. At the Balloon Fantasy game, concentrate your buster parts, so that energy and rapid are increased the most. Attack and range don't matter too much. Hit all of the red balloons before time runs out. Try not to hit the purple balloons, and don't be afraid to move around. Win on the A ranking, and you'll get the Mystic Orb. The third game requires that you have the Jet Skates equipped. Talk to the director walking around near the TV sets in the KTOX TV Station, and he'll ask if you want to be on the latest game show. Say yes. You'll then see 3 courses to participate in. Straight, Left, and Technical, ranging respectively in order of difficulty. Use the Jet Skates to navigate through the cones, and make it to the end within the time limit. Hit the yellow cones to stop the timer for a few seconds. Use L1 and R1 to better navigate through the cones, and hold Up to increase your speed. On the Technical course, you may need to brake some, by holding Down, in order to make it through the cones and hit all of the yellow cones. For winning the Straight Course on Rank A, you'll get the Music Box, for the Left Course, an Omni-Unit, and on the Technical Course, a Giant Horn. 3. Bombs Hidden in Downtown: After you've destroyed the Marlwolf, talk to the Inspector at the Police Station. (Goes without saying you'll need to make sure the Police Station isn't destroyed.) He'll direct you to Downtown, where a Servbot dropped three things, or bombs. A bomb will explode upon entering Downtown. Immediately climb up onto the rooftops, and search them for a red bomb. You'll eventually find one there. Next check the alleyways for another bomb. You'll find another one hidden there. Take both the Bomb and the Plastique to Roll to make some buster parts. 4. Building the Clubhouse: After finding the Yellow Refractor, find the abandoned house in-between the hills of the Yass Plains. Inside will be the three boys who have a club. Ask to join. They'll ask you to find the Pick Ax. Find it by going back to City Hall, and around the Bank, talk to the worker there, who will give you the Pick Ax. Give this to the boys at the clubhouse. They will take some time to update the place, so go through some ruins, or move on with the story. After some time has passed, they will ask you to get them a Saw. Return to the same man you got the Pick Ax from, and he'll say he threw his Saw away while working in Downtown. Head to Downtown, and look in the garbage pails. Inside one of them, will be the Saw. Give this to the boys, and they will take some more time to complete the clubhouse. Again, take some time to look around some ruins, or proceed with the story. When you return, the clubhouse will be complete. Talk to the leader, and he'll direct you to the Marlwolf shell inside the pile of junk they have. Now, climb up onto the ledge near the Junk Shop shack in the Yass Plains, and you'll find the Comic Book. Take this to the boys, and they will give you an X Buster. Head to Cardon Forest, and look around the area of the Cardon Gate place. Under a tree, will be a beetle. Take it back to the boys, and they'll give you an Old Heater. Head to Clozer Forest, near the Yass Plains, and around the entrance to the ruins, will be another Beetle, but this time, it's a Stag Beetle. Take this to the boys, and they'll give you the Broken Circuits. 5. Little Girl in the Hospital: When the Flutter is fixed, head to the Hospital in Uptown. Talk to the girl (who is Ira) in the wheelchair by the benches, and then talk to the receptionist at the desk. Head inside the door, and talk to the Nurse there. She'll mention that the equipment is too out-dated to fix Ira's condition, so you'll need to head to City Hall. Once there, talk to the Mayor. Mention the hospital's equipment. She'll need 15,000 zenny to update it, so give it to her. Return to the hospital, check in at the desk, and Ira will be excited, now that she is able to walk. She'll give you the Flower Pearl as thanks. 6. Lost Money Bag: After you've obtained the Yellow Refractor, and after you've saved Downtown from the bomb threat, head back to the Police Station, making sure the Library is intact, and talk to the Inspector. He'll direct you to a man waiting in the lobby, who lost his money. Talk to the man in the lobby to get this quest going. Head to the Electric Shop in Apple Market, and talk to the desk manager. He'll say that the man was hungry, and went to get something to eat, so go to the Jetlag bakery. The woman there mentions that the man went to go look something up, so now head to the Library in Downtown. The woman at the desk then says the man probably went to get something to drink. Head to the vending machine near the North Door leading to City Hall, and talk to the girl there. She says he saw the man, but he didn't have the bag. Now, go talk to the boy across the street from the library, near the garbage pail. Keep talking to him until he mentions that he threw the bag away in the garbage pail. Look inside the garbage pail, and you'll get the Bag. Take this back to the Inspector, and the man will reward you with the Arm Supporter. (NOTE: You can't expect to cut corners, and get the bag early. Only by completing all of the events stated above, will the bag appear in the garbage pail.) 7. Find the Grocer's Wife: Once you've opened the Main Gate, talk to the man next to the Grocery in Apple Market. Go to the area where the Flutter is, and across from the ruins there, behind the cliffs, is the pregnant woman. Take her to the hospital. Now leave the hospital, and return. Check the lobby, and the man there will give you the Sun-light as thanks. 8. Bank Robbers: After Bruno in the Old City has been destroyed, head back to the Flutter. Watch some TV, and a special broadcast will mention that thieves have run off with a large sum of cash from the Bank. (If the Bank is destroyed, this event can not take place.) Now head to Downtown. A police car will be chasing the crooks. Shoot at the car they're chasing, and after you've shot at it enough times, they'll crash. Pick up the trunk they leave behind, and give it to the Inspector. Head back to the Police Station, and the Inspector will give you 20,000 zenny as a reward. Here's the real killer though: Go back to the Bank, and someone there will tell you that the Servbots really didn't rob the bank, and that they just took out a loan (At least, that's what I remember that's what it was, a loan.) to invest their restaurant. Look around Downtown, and you'll see a new place has opened up, the Servbots new restaraunt. :P Section VI. Other Secrets: Get some free zenny! In Apple Market, you will see a lone can. Try kicking toward the Jetlag bakery, and get behind the desk. If you do, you will earn 1,000 zenny for your effort. Very useful early on, when zenny is kind of scarce. Listen to music in the CD store, by checking the aisles. Darker armor. If you do anything that lowers your morale, your armor can turn darker eventually. Such as... kicking the vending machines, shooting the KTOX TV Station zeppelin during the attack on City Hall, leave with the trunk of money after thwarting the Servbots, etc. etc. If you wish to boost your morale, bring any of the 3 gifts to Roll, and do some sub-quests, for example. Personally, I like the dark armor, and I wish you could keep it forever. If you beat the game, and after you wait until the credits and such are over, you can go back to the title screen. Below Option, Normal is there. Go down to Normal, and scroll to Hard. If you can beat the game on Hard, you can do the same process, and get Easy mode. However, enemies' energy level is incresed by about 2x, making it harder to kill them, and the Ship/Flutter's energy level is decreased and takes damage more easily. Easy mode increases the value of the zenny you get from enemies by 4x. Now you can actually attempt to max out your special weapons! After you've opened the Main Gate, you can see a wandering cat in front of the Main Gate. Talk to it, and you can bring it back to the Flutter. It will reproduce, and you can aquire more cats in the Flutter. Destroy some buildings in the Old City. It won't penalize you, if you have some fun, and let Bruno destroy the buildings in the Old City. It's strange, looking at a city with no buildings. :P Make subsequent trips to the Sub City in Downtown. The enemies there give you about 40,000 zenny a pop per visit, if you destroy all of them. Check behind the desk in the Police Station early in the game. You may find a Serv bot there, lurking around. Section VII. Final notes: When I refer to the 'optional ruins near the Clozer Forest Sub-Gate', I'm referring to the ruins in the area with the Flower. Before the area with the Marlwolf, there is an entrance to those ruins. The Marlwolf is trying to dig up the Clozer Forest Sub-Gate ruins. Explore throughly. After you've gotten a special item, such as the Jump Springs, revisit areas, so that you can find items you couldn't get to before. Always check at the Junk Shop for new buster parts. Section VIII. End: Well, that's the list and stuff for you. By the way, if anyone would like to submit any interesting secrets, or something, they know of, please do so, and I'll give you ample credit for it. As always, if you wish to use this guide/list, let me know beforehand. Thanks a lot. Copyright 2000. Mega Man Legends is a trademark of Capcom.
