I have this tendency, when I enjoy an artist or album enough, to seek out music by those associated with it. Most of the time I end up liking the peripheral stuff just as much as the "source" material, but sometimes mistakes like this creep in. Admittedly, it's sort of my own fault--when I heard that R.E.M. had worked with Zevon, I bought this entirely unrelated album instead of the collaboration. Maybe the R.E.M. team effort would have made him more enjoyable, but probably not.
