Ah, The Smashing Pumpkins before Corgan's pretension dug too deeply. (Note: their real name is The Smashing Pumpkins, not Smashing Pumpkins. The former refers to very elegant gourds; the latter just involves orange chunks everywhere.) The days when he could still write a song like Hummer and justify it by explaining to critics "I just like to write rhyming lyrics." I stopped paying attention to this band somewhere around Adore, because Corgan forgot that he knew how to write wonderful singles like "Rocket." I feel bad saying it, but SP's best songs always were their singles.
