Sleater-Kinney
All Hands On The Bad One

This, the latest Sleater-Kinney release, is a return to out and out rockingness after the more subdued The Hot Rock. The result is blistering stuff like "Youth Decay," an extended ... dental metaphor (no, really, it's very punk) and "The Professional," an attack on critics who'd rather bash than play. This one also has what must be their loosest, goofiest song ever in the form of "Milkshake 'N' Honey," which includes lines like "Keep turning me on / with those French words I can't pronounce." It closes with the unexpectedly sweet and poignant "The Swimmer," which may make the album a bit unfocused, but no less excellent.
