This is my favorite Sleater-Kinney album, for one reason: "Good Things." Every third-rate band can write love songs and breakup songs, but only Sleater-Kinney really sounds like they mean it. The lyrics combined with the delivery give a sense of near-hysterical grief at the end of a relationship, a far cry from the usual wistful attitude injected into such things. "Good Things," and Spiritualized's "Home of the Brave" are the only two breakup songs I've ever believed in. Oh, the rest of the album? Great stuff there too, particularly "Little Mouth" and "I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone" with the volume way up.
