Sleater-Kinney, even more than the Pixies, is music for getting revved up about something. Say what you will about their vocal style, but they give every single song everything they've got, and I for one can't help but get swept up with them. Which is kind of ironic, given a) my gender and b) the man-baiting (if not man-hating) content of their lyrics. This album is probably their most bombastic, though not their best. On the other hand, it has "Words and Guitar," so I'm willing to forgive a lot.
