Kristin Hersh
Hips and Makers

I bought this album because I was a very big R.E.M. fan, and heard a local radio station play a quiet, creepy song late one night that featured Michael Stipe on backing vocals near the end. I didn't figure out the name of the song or the artist for a couple more years, but I still liked the song enough to buy this album. Unfortunately, I don't listen much anymore--while Hersh is no Fiona Apple or Alanis Morrissette, she's not that good either. I still like "Your Ghost" now as much as I did when I heard it on the radio, but the rest of it could best be described as "inoffensive" and left at that.
