Gitaroo-Man
Original Soundtrack

It's strong praise, but I'll say it: this is my favorite videogame soundtrack ever. With nary a single dud amongst its main tracks (although I'll get to those remixes shortly) it both perfectly complements the in-game action and presents a diverse, funky standalone album for when you're not playing the game--it's a rare soundtrack that's almost as much fun as its parent game. The best part is how sprawling the album is; virtually no two songs are alike. The tracks here encompass J-Pop, jazz, drum 'n' bass, reggae, heavy metal, alternative sludge, and the indescribable hybrid of styles that is the album's best song, Born to be Bone. The only downside are the four "remixes" at the end, a good three of which are indistinguishable from the originals and the fourth only marginally different. Padding aside, even if you don't like videogames, you should see if you can snag a copy of this album. It's a must-own for anyone who likes catchy, amazing instrumentals.
