Though there were one of the first bands I liked, with a little more musical experience and knowledge I can describe them pretty well as a more laid-back, homier version of They Might Be Giants--which isn't a bad thing. They tend to be a little more hit-or-miss than TMBG, though, mostly because they sometimes seem determined to curb their instinct for oddity. The result is usually something on the order of "The Country Life" or "The Voyage": bland, grating, and unworthy of the Dummies.
