Yang's Story

ACHOOO!

Unfortunately, there's not much to say about Yang. He doesn't say much, and there isn't much background given for him, only that he is a Karate Master of Fabul. Apparently he has a high rank, because at the end of the game, the old king of Fabul has been terribly wounded, and Yang ascends the throne.

Before that, however, Yang must go through quite an ordeal. The party first encounters him training the king's troops on Mt. Hobs, and joins forces with him to try to repel Baron's army as they try to take away Fabul's Crystal of Air. Unfortunately they fail, due to a monster disguising itself as one of Yang's men, and so Yang heads off with the party to attack Baron by sea. Bad luck strikes again when the ship is destroyed by Leviathan, and then the party finds him suffering from amnesia in Baron, brainwashed into fighting for the corrupt king. Later on, in the tower of Bab-il, Yang sacrifices himself by manually blowing up the Super Cannon which Golbez' troops were intending to use against the dwarves. Which leads to a rather amusing scenario...

Probably the most notable thing about Yang is his relationship with his only known relative - his wife. Though Yang himself seems to be a rather noble, calm character, his wife is... for lack of a better word, quite feisty. When Fabul is attacked, and he goes to check on her, she tells him not to worry. "A soldier came," she tells him, "but I hit him with my frying pan!"

She is considerably less than happy when she finds out about his fate. As it turns out, Yang did not die when the Super Cannon blew up, but was rescued by the Sylphs, who you can find deep inside the Sylvan Cave in the Underworld. They have been nursing him back to health ever since, though he's still unconscious when you first come across him. Obviously, his wife isn't pleased with this, and gives Cecil her frying pan to hit Yang over the head with, to bring him back to his senses. But when Yang is awake, the Sylphs refuse to let him return with Cecil, saying his injuries are too severe. It's rumored that their... attractiveness... has something to do with it too, and that Yang's rather enjoying their attention.

At any rate, Yang eventually does return to the surface world - driving one of the dwarven tanks that attacks the Giant of Bab-il, with the Sylphs at his side! He eventually returns to his wife, who is happy to be the new queen of Fabul. I have to wonder who the real ruler of Fabul would be in this case...
