Tellah's Story

Hey, squares, mellow out...

Master Tellah was once highly revered in Mysidia, the town of wizards. And yet when Cecil and his party encounter him, he's living in the tiny town of Kaipo, halfway across the world - or more accurately, he's near Kaipo, chasing after his runaway daughter Anna. Anna has left home to marry a bard without Tellah's permission, and in his mind, this "wicked bard" has seduced her. He intends to do whatever is necessary to save his daughter and bring her home, despite the fact his memory isn't what it used to be, and he's forgotten most of his spells.

So why exactly did Tellah leave Mysidia in the first place? I have two theories. One is, he left because he was ashamed of having lost the memory of so many spells, when he used to be a master magician. The second is, he was always overprotective of Anna. When she began to grow up and boys paid attention to her, he got fed up and decided to move off to a place where there were no boys to pursue her... except it backfired when Anna met this bard.

When he encounters Anna lying near death in Damcyan castle, he goes ballistic, blaming his daughter's "spoony" fiance, who turns out to be Prince Edward of Damcyan, who had disguised himself as a bard during his travels. Upon learning that his daughter truly did love Edward, as well as who is really responsible for Anna's death, he leaves the party in a rage, vowing to destroy Golbez himself.

It's this arrogance and quick temper that proves his downfall, eventually. When he finally catches up with Golbez, he uses the powerful spell Meteo. Though it weakens Golbez greatly, it uses up too much of his energy, and he dies. "I brought this upon myself... because I lost myself in hatred," he admits with his dying breath. But really, it's not as bad as he makes it out to be, for his fiercely protective love for his daughter was the cause of his hatred. You could say that he lost himself in love, as well...
